Son moteur sans balai lui confère plus d'endurance, une longévité optimale et garantit un sciage très rapide. Elle est dotée de la technologie XPT - Xtreme Protect Technology qui assure une protection optimale contre l'infiltration de la poussière et de l'eau et facilite son utilisation dans des conditions difficiles. Le mécanisme à levier monté verticalement permet un mouvement arrière plus rapide de la tige de levage. Cette scie dispose également sabot de guidage renforcé et plus rigide, et permet un changement de la lame de scie sans outils. La Makita DJR 188 est en plus dotée d'une lampe LED avec fonction de rétroéclairage.
